Puzzles
Playing again with number puzzles from the New Year's Number Sensory Tub one last time.
He then asked if he could work a shape puzzle.
He also worked on an easy dinosaur puzzle one day. His new dinosaur toys came out several times this week too.
Colors and Fine Motor Skills
He really enjoyed his snowflake color matching activity, though colors are easy for him. I might try this with colored clothespins next time.
Art
He spent some time drawing me some pictures!
Outdoor Time
With this week's crazy weather, we spent a lot of extra time outdoors! We had a good time playing outside in our First Snow. This was Monday afternoon. Tuesday looked the same, with temps in the low 20s. By Friday, the snow was gone, the sun was out, and we were barely wearing our fall jackets with the temps in the mid-60s! I didn't take the camera since hubby was back at work (2 kids and a dog keeps your hands busy!) but we had a great time jumping in mud puddles, climbing hills and walking Bailey!
Winter Sensory Tub
Since our New Year's Tub theme was quickly outdated, I made up a Winter Sensory Tub with that snow in mind, but by the time I gave it to the boys on Friday, it didn't feel like winter! That didn't matter, though, because he really enjoyed it.
The first day was just play. The second day, big brother was on an outing with daddy, so we had the tub to ourselves, and I offered some guided activities. He enjoyed stringing beads, which he's never been interested in before.
Lounging with dad!
Fighting in his sleep?
Even in his sleep, he's attacking his big brother! I can't blame him, though, when his brother sneaks in and takes over his bed!

The picture of those two in bed together is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe have the same number puzzle that you do, but last time had that puzzle down he tried to eat the numbers, so it's been up in the closet. It might be time to try it again.
Jenny, I have found some fantastic puzzles at Dollar Tree! I just got some new ones yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the "eating" thing. Emory was a "mouther" for a LONG time. Of course, as soon as he grew out of it, we went and got a puppy!
I'm so jealous of that snow, looks amazing. I think we've missed the boat this winter in the UK
ReplyDeleteStill love that snowflake. Puzzles I love, I hope my toddler will too. So far only with "Mama help!". *g*
ReplyDeleteYou have some great ideas for your Winter theme! That picture of your two boys sleeping reminds me of my older two...we finally ended up letting them share a bigger bed because they would just sneak into each others bed anyway! Too sweet!
ReplyDeleteI just joined your blog and look forward to keeping up with you!
Looks like an amazing week! I love that you are including outdoor play with your learning week - kids SO need to play outside and learn tons of great things by exploring the world. I am your newest follower and can't wait to read more =)
ReplyDeleteHa =) I went to follow you, but it says I already do =)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lovingmama, I am definitely learning how vital outdoor time is to natural learning, and even though we aren't doing formal nature studies yet, I love watching their observation skills develop!
